Behind Closed Doors, Corporate Weed Bends Over for Trump — and Calls It “Policy Strategy”

In a dark banquet room somewhere off K Street, past the silent booths and empty plates of a donor dinner no one publicized, a cannabis PAC wrote a $1 million check to the man who once made Jeff Sessions Attorney General. And they called it “open dialogue.”

This isn’t a campaign donation. It’s a full-body oil massage from the same industry that calls itself "progressive" on every damn panel.

According to FEC filings, the American Rights and Reform PAC — formerly Legalize America — just dropped a million dollars into Donald Trump’s primary campaign war chest via MAGA Inc., his official super PAC.

That’s not reform strategy. That’s a fuck-you in a branded swag bag.

Meet the Donors

The PAC’s donor roll is a Mount Rushmore of hypocritical weed executives pretending to hate prohibition while begging for regulatory favors:

  • Verano Holdings: $1,037,500

  • Green Thumb Industries: $1,000,000

  • Curaleaf: $750,000

  • Cresco Labs: $750,000

  • Trulieve: $250,000

That’s over $3.7 million into a PAC that just endorsed a man who once released a campaign PSA linking weed to mass shootings.

“We believe in policy access across the aisle,” read one internal memo reviewed by Boof du Jour.Handwritten underneath: “Even if the aisle is on fire.”

Reform for Sale — But Not for You

The official explanation? Access.

According to internal sources, the PAC’s leadership claimed the Trump PAC donation was to “ensure continued lines of communication.”Translation: We bribed him so he’ll take our calls.

But here’s what they’re not saying:

  • The PAC has paid over $300,000 to X Strategies, a MAGA PR firm whose founders regularly mock weed reform.

  • Another $120,000+ went to Fabrizio, Lee & Associates, Trump’s go-to polling firm — known for helping the GOP message-test xenophobia.

  • Meanwhile, not a single dollar has gone to prisoner reentry programs, expungement campaigns, or public defender partnerships.

Let’s not forget: These same MSOs are slashing wages, laying off staff, and closing stores. But somehow they’ve got millions to blow on MAGA’s political muscle rubs.

Behind the Curtain: The PAC Gala That Wasn’t

Boof sources described one private PAC dinner in DC as “a high school reunion for executives who hate the plant.”At one table, a Curaleaf exec pitched a “Cannabis Civility Compact” while signing a $500,000 check. At another, a Trulieve lobbyist explained that unionization is “just a phase,” like edibles or equity.

On the projector screen? A slide reading:

“Rescheduling is inevitable. Access is the advantage. Trump is the gate.”

They toasted with $1,000 infused cocktails garnished with hemp leaves they don’t grow.

The Trump Playbook

Let’s review Trump’s cannabis record:

  • Appointed Jeff Sessions, who said “good people don’t smoke marijuana”

  • Maintained Schedule I classification

  • Cut off banking discussions

  • Rescinded the Cole Memo

  • Launched anti-weed media campaigns using your tax dollars

The man did nothing for weed reform — except make it easier to raid your warehouse.

And now his PAC has your money in his pocket.Because the people running this industry are cowards with capital.

The Companies Deserve Names

Here’s what you won’t hear on their next investor call:

  • Verano has cut markets, axed workers, and failed upward—now it’s funding the guy who’d throw their patients in jail.

  • GTI has paid for Trump’s polling firm while laying off staff and pitching “sustainability” panels.

  • Curaleaf closed stores, killed jobs, and still had room in the budget for MAGA marketing consultants.

  • Cresco is begging for federal help with 280E, while literally donating to the guy who enforces it.

  • Trulieve? Under investigation in multiple states. Now buying influence from the one guy who might stall the subpoenas.

They’ll say it’s policy engagement. They’ll call it “bipartisan strategy.”But don’t fucking believe it.

What They Really Bought

According to a leaked pitch deck, donors above the $250,000 tier get:

  • “Targeted carve-out discussions”

  • “Early access to draft policy”

  • “Facilitated contact with federal agencies”

  • One extremely uncomfortable back rub from Donald Trump, optional but strongly encouraged

One executive described it as “cannabis country club access — but for criminal defense.”

Final Thought

The same executives funding Trump’s campaign are also begging for clemency, hosting DEI panels, and (in at least one case) allegedly appointing him to their board. 😉

They aren’t fighting for the plant. They’re protecting their own fat fucking margins.

This isn’t legalization.It’s leveraged corruption.

Let it burn.
